That is very true, so I repeat it again. It is hard to be true to others and to yourself, but somehow we are all related, as the word re-ligion expresses (re-legare = reconnect), so that we can bring back to ourselves what is missing, back from where we left it behind. Not just loyalty and not just honesty, but something that is *smack* in the middle. Love indeed.

Best regards,
Ron C. de Weijze

Comment on Inspiration from a Blind: Do You See the Light?

Thank you for sharing. Shirley has covered all bases, from smoking to gambling, excessive TV watching, gossiping, worrying and other time wasters. In her gentle way Shirley reminds us that time is a precious resource and should not be wasted. I'm printing this out to read to my teenage son who has limited vision, and could use this insight. Also I'm subscribing to this blog. Shirley's "Words of Wisdom" are to be revered and treasured for she writes with her heart, a heart that is filled with love for God and all His creations.

Comment on Wanted: Contributions for New Parental Rights in Children's Medical Care Advocacy Book

I have recently been invistigated by the Department of Child and Family Services after taking my 4 month old son out of a local hospital against medical advice and seeking care at another facility. It was only after being verbally attacked and made hestirical by an attending E.R. docotr and my own pediatrician abandoning my son's care after my husband and I disagreed with her, that I took my son out of the hospital. Becase I disagreed with the docotors at the hospital, I was referred to the Department of Child and Family Services. I feel my rights as a parent were violated. I should have the right to take my child, who was not critical, out of any facility without the risk of losing him or having the Department of Child and families show up at my door step. For good, well meaning parents to be violated this way should be a crime. What is happening to a parents right to choose her childs medical care and disagree with current care?

Comment on Inspiration from a Blind: Bad Moments or Divine Plans?

Dear Shirley,

You are truly an inspiration! I am a sighted performing artist and I am embarking on a project to work with vision impaired individuals. Your words have both strengthened my commitment to this brand new initiative and given me further insight into the challenges and the opportunities for those with vision problems. I look forward to reading your book...but you have already changed me with your message of hope. As a dancer, I especially like your personal motto, "A dancing heart teaches true". Let "the ropes of hope haul you high" indeed, dear Shirley!

Blessings,
Bonnie Black
Toronto, ON
